Help NABU end global illiteracy by making a donation to One Million More (#1MM), a year-long campaign to combat learning loss and increase literacy skills so that every child can read and rise to their full potential.
NABU publishes children’s books in under-served, mother tongue languages, providing children with inclusive and equitable access to literacy.
In 2020, when COVID-19 prompted historic school closures, 200,000 children in developing countries were reading on the free NABU app.
Our goal in 2021 is simple: one million more children reading

January 1, 2021
On December 1, 2021, 94,000 young readers were accessing the NABU reading platform, and we set a goal. That goal was to reach One Million children in 2021. Just 12 months later in December, we are SO close to achieving our milestone, with 957,444 children consuming the NABU library, seeing themselves in the stories they read, in a language they can understand. We need you, our NABU community, to get us across the finish line and become a part of our lasting historic moment! Become a monthly donor, or make a one-time, tax-deductible donation to the campaign for One Million More, and help children everywhere continue to read and rise to their full potential.

Mask Edition! Kids are social distance learning at a local community center in Rwanda. We are so happy we are able to reconnect with our users and hear more about what they think of the new stories we have added to the NABU app!
NABU is a leading publisher of multilingual children’s books, using technology to accelerate children’s literacy through a love of reading in their mother tongue. Through partnerships we create a platform for local authors to tell their stories in their own words, honoring and preserving cultural heritage, and empowering children to see themselves and their lives reflected in the pages of the stories they read.
In 2020, when COVID-19 prompted historic school closures, resulting in further disparities in learning and achievement in underserved communities, 1.2 million pages of mother tongue storybooks were read on the free NABU reading app by children around the world.
Today, as the pandemic persists, our goal for pages read in 2021 is simple: one million more.
