NABU BOOK PRIZE
NABU BOOK PRIZE
Welcome to our monthly storytelling platform! A child’s path to opportunity begins with literacy, and literacy begins with books. We have created the NABU Book Prize to invite submissions of children’s books in mother tongue languages, and our first award is for books in Kinyarwanda. Every month we run a children’s book writing competition in the Kinyarwanda mother tongue. The monthly winners will have their books distributed on nabu.org app to over 30,000 readers and automatically join our annual campaign with a chance to win a NABU Book of the Year and a top prize of $5,000 and an international publishing deal. Submit your fully finished book (story and illustration) by the 30th of every month to enter the competition. To learn more, download the NABU Book Prize Guidelines.
WRITER WORKSHOPS
Your stories matter. Think back to that moment in your childhood when you found the book in your hands with all the wonderful pictures in it was actually written in your language. Even as a child, you recognized those moments as not only special, but rare. In your community today, those moments are still less common than they should be. Together, we can change that. NABU runs Writer Workshops in Haiti and Rwanda to train local creators on how to write compelling children’s stories. NABU is always looking for new writers and illustrators to help us create these stories for children who need them most. Fill out this form to join our mailing list and get informed about upcoming submission competitions and creative opportunities.
