NABU: Introducing Matthew Levy: NABU’s New Advisor, Sports Creative Strategy

We’re excited to announce that Matthew Levy has joined the NABU team as our new Advisor for Sports Creative Strategy! Matthew brings a unique blend of storytelling passion, global experience, and a love for sports to help us create innovative campaigns that inspire children to read through the universal language of sport.

In his role, Matthew will focus on developing creative strategies that connect sports and literacy. He will work closely with our content, marketing, and partnerships teams to design initiatives that engage young readers, leveraging sports as a powerful tool to promote reading and learning across NABU’s programs worldwide.

Matthew’s Journey: A Life Shaped by Curiosity and Creativity

Matthew’s professional journey reflects a blend of creative storytelling, strategic communication, and cross-cultural experience. Born in New York and raised in Hong Kong, Matthew developed a global perspective early on.

He began his career in media and communications, serving as Head of Social Media for the American University Athletic Department, where he managed digital channels and supported alumni engagement through event planning and marketing.

He went on to work as a Marketing Intern at IMG in Shanghai and later joined the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society in Hong Kong as a Social Media Intern, sharpening his skills in digital marketing and analytics. From 2020 to 2022, Matthew served as Communications Manager for D³, a Hong Kong-based sports venue development project. In this role, he led a team of design interns, crafted investment pitches, and oversaw external communications demonstrating both strategic vision and team leadership.

In addition to his storytelling and media work, Matthew also spent time as a Financial Professional at New York Life Insurance Company, where he developed strong analytical and client-facing skills. More recently, he has shifted focus to creative consulting supporting organizations in shaping strategic narratives and campaigns. This combination of creative insight and structured communication experience equips Matthew to contribute meaningfully to NABU’s mission.

Values Alignment: A Shared Mission

Matthew shares NABU’s core belief that stories have the power to unite and inspire.

“I’m at my best when creativity and impact come together, and NABU offers a rare opportunity to make that happen. From my first meeting, I felt a strong connection to the mission, and I'm excited to contribute in any way I can”- Matthew Levy

We look forward to seeing how Matthew’s creativity and passion will help us reach more young readers through innovative, sport-centered storytelling.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Matthew Levy to the NABU family! His arrival strengthens our creative team and opens exciting new opportunities to inspire children to read and learn worldwide through the power of sport and stories.
