NABU: Introducing Maximiliano Pin: NABU’s New Chief Development Officer

We’re excited to announce that Maximiliano Pin has joined the NABU team as our Chief Development Officer (CDO)! Max brings extensive experience in global development, fundraising, and forging impactful partnerships. His deep commitment to education and development will play a key role in advancing our mission to make literacy and education accessible to children around the world.

A Leader with a Vision for Global Change

Max has built his career around driving meaningful change and creating sustainable solutions, particularly in the digital education and social development sectors. His passion for improving access to resources and opportunities for underserved communities aligns perfectly with NABU’s vision. With a track record of leading high-impact initiatives and partnerships with focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, Max will help us amplify our efforts to reach even more children with the transformative power of reading.

As Chief Development Officer, Max will lead our efforts to strengthen relationships with key partners and raise the funds needed to expand our programs. His focus will be on ensuring NABU’s sustainability and growth by driving new funding opportunities and partnerships with foundations, corporates, bilateral institutions, and high net worth individuals. With Max at the helm, we are confident that NABU will be in an even stronger position to achieve our goals and make a greater impact on global literacy.

Max’s Journey: A Track Record of Success

Max’s professional journey reflects a clear commitment to service and innovation. He initiated his professional career in the corporate financial sector spending seven years in different positions at ING’s head office in Amsterdam. In 2015, he joined One Acre Fund, where he spent over five years growing with the organization from a Field Operations Associate to Grants Manager, to ultimately serving as Senior Manager of Special Projects. During this time, he lived in rural Malawi and Zambia for two years and played a pivotal role in scaling the organization’s field operations across East Africa. One of his most meaningful milestones was helping the organization expand services to over 700,000 smallholder farmers, optimizing systems that supported increased food security and economic resilience in rural communities.

After One Acre Fund, Max stepped into a global fundraising leadership role at EIDU, a Berlin-based social enterprise focused on transforming early childhood education through mobile technology. From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Director of Fundraising, where he helped build the fundraising team and raise more than $3 million in funding to support EIDU’s growing reach. His efforts were instrumental in securing key partnerships and ensuring the organization’s programs continued to expand across Kenya and beyond. Max’s experience in building trusted relationships with donors, designing effective fundraising strategies, and aligning resources with impact will be essential in his new chapter with NABU.

A Shared Mission, A New Chapter

Max’s deep commitment to education, his strategic approach to fundraising, and his ability to build lasting partnerships make him a perfect fit for NABU. His passion for creating opportunities for children aligns directly with our mission to bring books and literacy to every child, regardless of where they live.

“I’m excited to be joining NABU because of the organization’s incredible work in addressing the global literacy crisis,” says Max. “Children are the future of today’s world and education is one of the key pillars achieve better living standards. The opportunity to help scale NABU’s impact and make a lasting difference in their lives is something I’m truly passionate about. I look forward to helping drive this mission forward.”

We are thrilled to have Maximiliano Pin on board. His experience, leadership, and vision will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strive for even greater impact. Please join us in welcoming Max to the NABU family!
