NABU Joins Mastercard Foundation and iHub EdTech Fellowship to empower literacy in Africa

NABU: NABU Joins Mastercard Foundation and iHub EdTech Fellowship to empower literacy in Africa

NABU is thrilled to announce we have been selected for the prestigious Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Program, in collaboration with iHUB Kenya. This incredible opportunity marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to provide equitable access to literacy resources across Africa.

Recently, iHUB Kenya announced the twelve pioneering EdTech startups, including NABU, chosen to join the second cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship. This dynamic accelerator program, powered by the Mastercard Foundation, is dedicated to providing essential support, scalability opportunities, and funding to technology-driven education solutions that are reshaping learning experiences in Kenya and the broader African continent.

Spanning 18 months, the program features milestones that extend to the post-acceleration phase, concluding in December 2025. During the initial six-month accelerator phase, our teams will receive personalized guidance and support from Mastercard Foundation experts through one-on-one sessions. Our journey through the accelerator will cover a range of areas, including learning science, product development, content creation, distribution, community engagement, talent acquisition, financial planning, and marketing strategies. Each track will be led by dedicated team members tasked with developing individual plans to support our collective milestones. Additionally, the program provides $100,000 in funding support to further enhance our initiatives.

Our primary objective within this program is to transition NABU from a platform solely focused on producing children's books into a comprehensive EdTech platform. By leveraging new technological opportunities, we aim to enhance content delivery and learning experiences for our users. Key milestones and targets include reaching 100 schools, engaging with 10,000 teachers, volunteers, caregivers, and parents, attracting 500,000 users, and increasing daily active readership.

Participating in this program enables us to contribute significantly to the growth of a vibrant EdTech ecosystem across Africa. With equity-free funding, extensive support, and tailored mentoring, we gain access to invaluable resources that will enable us to refine our products and fulfill our mission of transforming education for children throughout the continent.

We are excited to embark on this transformative journey as part of the 2024 cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Program. Stay tuned as we continue to make strides in reshaping the future of literacy!
